Dolphin Report - May, 2007
May was a wet month, as well as some strong winds, which made the water clarity in close to shore very bad.
Temptation headed out a couple of klms offshore in May to try to get into cleaner water - this was OK but the dolphin numbers in May decreased because of this.
There are a lot of sea birds in the area at the moment, as well as a few seals, which have been calling the Glenelg breakwater home for the last 6 months.
Temptation will be taken out of the water for the next two months for maintenance.
FIRST DOLPHIN SWIM FOR NEXT SEASON IS EARLY AUGUST
Dolphin Report - April, 2007
The start of April was good with many local pods seen and very good interaction time. Most of the month we stayed close to Glenelg, as there was little activity further South.
The later part of the month we started to get a bit of rain - well needed, but this decreased the visibility close to shore.
Dolphin Report - March, 2007
March was an inconsistent month - the start of the month saw Temptation head out into deeper waters to get amongst the common dolphins. This lasted until the 9th of March when the commons moved on.
The local bottlenose dolphins have moved away leaving only one main pod at Seacliff. This pod, as well as most other larger pods had new born dolphins – this is good to watch but the pods with new borns don’t often come over to the swimmers.
In general the swim time has not been very good in March, although late March this was improving with more local pods moving back to Glenelg.
Late March MoHawk, Krys and Addidas entered the inside of the Glenelg lock into the Patawolunga and were there for 8 days until they had enough feed and came out.
Seals are around in good numbers at the moment.

Dolphin Report - February, 2007
February is generally a bad month for dolphin interaction, as many local dolphins move to other areas and babies start to appear. However, this February we were lucky to have large pods of Common dolphins in the deeper waters off Glenelg and the interaction with the “Commons” are always very good, spectacular in fact.
The bottlenose dolphins we did see were not our regular dolphins so the interaction with them was not as good.
Four new borns (bottlenose) were seen during the month.
The weather and visibility was exceptional during February.
We have seen five new dolphins coming into the marina basin – all from the same pod – this makes it only 14 different dolphins that we have recorded coming into the marina basin. There is a lot of small fish to be rounded up on the basin walls and I hope the easy food will see these dolphins come in regularly.
To be updated April, 07.
Dolphin Report - January, 2007
January has seen a decline in the dolphin interaction. Most pods, including locals, only spent a short time at the boat, which only allowed the swimmers to view the dolphins briefly.
January always tends to be a bad month for the dolphin interaction. This is due to the boat traffic. This season we have witnessed a lot of dolphin harassment by people in their boats.
On the 28th of January we watched a dolphin with its dead calf (day or two old). She pushed it around and continued to surface with it every minute to breathe.
On a brighter note, late January the common dolphins came back into the feeding grounds. Seals and penguins also came in to feed.
February we will focus mainly on the deeper water to view bottlenose and common dolphins, as close to shore the mother dolphins will start giving birth. So far we have already seen two new born bottlenose dolphins.
